Project Overview
A property owner in a South Coast estate contacted us with a serious sewer line problem. Tree roots had infiltrated their old clay pipes, causing repeated blockages and backups. They needed a permanent solution that wouldn’t destroy their carefully landscaped garden.
The Problem
Initial Inspection Revealed:
- Extensive root intrusion throughout the clay sewer line
- Multiple sections of collapsed piping
- Improper grading causing drainage issues
- The line ran directly under established landscaping
Traditional replacement would have required:
- Excavating a 2-meter deep trench across the property
- Removing mature trees and destroying the garden
- A week of heavy equipment on-site
- Extensive restoration work after plumbing repairs
Our Solution: Trenchless Pipe Relining
We recommended Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining as the ideal solution.
The Process
Day 1: Preparation & Cleaning
- Hydro-jet cleaning to remove all debris and roots
- Camera inspection to map exact damage locations
- Cleanout access points installation
Day 2: Relining Installation
- Saturated felt liner inserted into existing pipe
- Inverted using air pressure, creating a “pipe within a pipe”
- Cured with hot water for 4 hours
- Created a seamless, jointless new pipe
Day 3: Final Inspection & Restoration
- Camera inspection confirming perfect installation
- Reconnection of all lateral lines
- Minimal site restoration required
The Results
Benefits Achieved:
- ✅ Zero excavation required - garden preserved
